Reminder: Evidence Report Consultation Launched

We’ve started preparing the third Local Development Plan (LDP3) which will guide future land use and development across East Renfrewshire. The first stage in preparing this new plan is a process of evidence-gathering, which will allow us to identify important matters that affect the Council area and the identification of the key things that the plan must address.

We’ve been working to gather evidence in relation to the topics within National Planning Framework 4. You can have your say on a range of topics here. It’s important that we establish areas of agreement or disagreement and if any additional evidence should be taken into account. We’ll also be inviting key agencies for their views, such as Scottish Water and NatureScot. More information on the private sector and LDP evidence reports can be found in this blog post by the Planning and Architecture division of the Scottish Government.

The consultation will run until 10 May 2024.

Evidence Report Consultation Launched

Evidence Report

We are currently preparing an Evidence Report to inform LDP3.  The Evidence Report will set out the council’s view on a wide range of matters related to the development and use of land in the East Renfrewshire area.  It will cover the characteristics of the land use and population of the plan area as well as housing, education and infrastructure matters, amongst others.

The Evidence Report aims to clearly inform what to plan for before the Proposed Plan looks at where development should take place. The Evidence Report therefore will not consider specific sites.

To provide a basis for the Evidence Report and to help establish the views of stakeholders on the evidence, we have prepared a number of topic papers covering various areas of evidence and have published them for consultation under the 3 themes of NPF4: Sustainable Places, Liveable Places and Productive Places.

Topic Paper Consultation

We are inviting stakeholders with an interest in these topics to read the papers and either:

Confirm that they are broadly satisfied with the evidence presented; or Identify any areas of evidence which they disagree with, or significant gaps in the evidence; and supply any relevant additional/alternative evidence for the Council's consideration which they consider should be included in the topic papers and the Evidence Report.

The Topic Papers and response forms are available here under the 3 themes of NPF4: Sustainable Places, Liveable Places and Productive Places.

The consultation will run for 4 weeks until 10th May 2024.

You have subscribed but have you had your say? This is the last weekend to take part in the Your Place surveys as they close on Monday 16th October.

Thanks to everyone who has filled out the survey already, effective community engagement is an essential part of local development plan preparation. The Council is committed to encouraging participation from everyone with an interest in the preparation of the Local Development Plan 3. Please help us by filling in Your Place survey and let us know what you think about your place.

There are a number of different surveys for different groups of people, in order to gather as many views as possible:

How Good are our Play Spaces?

We want to know if children and young people have good places to play in East Renfrewshire.

Are play spaces:

  • fit for purpose?
  • available?
  • accessible?
  • Take the short survey

Please include the thoughts of your children when completing the questions. The results will be used to produce our Play Sufficiency Statement and form part of the evidence for LDP3.

    Pre-Engagement Survey Results

East Renfrewshire Council is preparing a new Local Development Plan (LDP3). We think it is critical that everyone that lives in, works in and enjoys East Renfrewshire are part of the development plan making process and believe that the insights they provide are invaluable.

The first stage in the preparation of LDP3 was finding out how communities and other stakeholders want to engage on LDP3 and receive updates. Two surveys were published to gather views, a ‘Participation Survey’ and a ‘Youth Engagement survey’. The surveys were also used as a mechanism to raise awareness of LDP3 and the future timeline for the preparation of the Plan.

A 4 week consultation commenced on May 3rd 2023 and ended on 31st May 2023. The surveys were published on the Council’s Local Development Plan Hub on Commonplace, and through the Council’s LDP3 website, Facebook and Twitter account and email notifications were sent to individuals and organisations listed on the LDP contact database. The Pre Engagement Survey Analysis of Responses can be found here.

Thank you to everyone who took part, we are extremely grateful for your responses on how you wish to be involved with LDP3, barriers that may be faced and suggestions on how to overcome these barriers. The analysis presented in this report has been used to inform the Development Plan Scheme and Participation Statement for LDP3. This will be reported to East Renfrewshire Full Council for approval in June 2023 before publication and submission to Scottish Ministers.

Other place based information will be used to inform the Evidence Report and Proposed Plan stages of LDP3.
