East Renfrewshire Third Local Development Plan

Milestones

  • Stage 1: Pre-Engagement Surveys

The first stage is finding out how communities and other stakeholders want to engage on LDP3 preparation and receive updates.
  • Stage 2: Development Plan Scheme and Participation Statement

During the summer, we prepared and published a revised Development Plan Scheme. The DPS and Participation Statement were informed by the earlier pre-engagement survey responses.
  • Stage 3: Evidence Report

Developing a proportionate evidence base is a critical stage in the preparation of LDP3 and is essential if we are to fulfil our place shaping role. This process has commenced and will be completed by Spring 2024. We will also prepare a ‘Site Assessment’ framework that will be used to assess sites at Proposed Plan stage. The Evidence Report aims to clearly inform what to plan for before the Proposed Plan looks at where development should take place. The Evidence Report therefore will not consider specific sites.
  • Stage 4: Gatecheck

An independent assessment of the Evidence Report will be undertaken to determine whether we have sufficient information to progress and prepare a Proposed Plan.
  • Stage 5: Proposed Plan

Taking into account the Evidence Report, community and registered Local Place Plans, the Proposed Plan will be published to allow any representations from stakeholders and the public to make any changes to the plan for a period of 12 weeks.
  • Stage 6: Examination

Scottish Ministers will appoint a person, known as a Reporter, to examine the Proposed Plan. The Reporter will provide conclusions and recommendations for each of the unresolved issues identified at the start of the Examination process.
  • stage 7: Adoption

Following receipt of the examination report from the Reporter – and subject to the recommendations of the Reporter on the unresolved representations – we will progress to adopt LDP3 at which time it will replace LDP2 as forming part of the development plan for East Renfrewshire.
